DESCRIPTION:This group is for all our semi-ambulatory part-time wheelchair users. The Group meets every 4th Monday of the month. \nThe group is facilitated by United Spinal member Rob Henry. Rob is a board member at large for Untied Spinal Association of Michigan and he coordinates their peer mentor program. Rob was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome in January 2019 and at the time was paralyzed from the neck down. Through his work with his therapists and mentors\, Rob was able to regain the ability to walk\, but still has nerve damage in both feet along with neuropathy\, so he is only able to stand and walk for a short time. SUMMARY:United Spinal Walking Rollers Support Group
DESCRIPTION:This group is for all our semi-ambulatory part-time wheelchair users. The Group meets every 4th Monday of the month. \nThe group is facilitated by United Spinal member Rob Henry. Rob is a board member at large for Untied Spinal Association of Michigan and he coordinates their peer mentor program. Rob was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome in January 2019 and at the time was paralyzed from the neck down. Through his work with his therapists and mentors\, Rob was able to regain the ability to walk\, but still has nerve damage in both feet along with neuropathy\, so he is only able to stand and walk for a short time. DESCRIPTION:Come join us for our Adaptive Mountain Bike Fest at The Shelden Mountain Bike Fest at Stoney Creek on September 27th\, 2025! \nFor the 4th year in a row\, Stony Creek Metropark is collaborating with Wheels in Motion to introduce an Adaptive Section to their Annual Shelden Mountain Bike Fest! \nCertain to become the premiere Adaptive MTB Event of the Midwest\, Riders from across the country will be joining to ride that day and begin to spread the good word about Offroad Handcycling/Adaptive MTBing. In partnership with Huron-Clinton Metroparks\, Wheels in Motion invites you to bring your Adaptive Mountain Bikes out to enjoy a day of riding on trails specifically widened and made accessible for our Sport. \n \n \nShelden Trails was a pioneer in the industry to be the first of its kind to widen their mountain bike trails to be accessible to adaptive mountain biking/Offroad Handcycling. \nTime: 3 p.m.- 9 p.m.\nCost: Free!
